　　the United States為專用名詞,首字母必須大寫.

　　作名詞,意為"國家,祖國",為可數(shù)名詞,其復(fù)數(shù)為countries.與the 連用,表示"國民",也可表示"鄉(xiāng)下,郊外,農(nóng)村".

　　The country like him very much. 全國人民都喜歡他.

　　-Where do you live? 你住在哪里?

　　-I live in the country. 我住在農(nóng)村.

　　作不及物動詞,意為"居住",不能直接跟地點名詞,其后應(yīng)跟表示地點的狀語,當接表示地點的名詞時,需加相應(yīng)的介詞.當接表示地點的副詞時,其后則不加任何介詞.

　　I live in Beijing and my mother lives in Shanghai.

　　我住在北京,我媽媽住在上海.

　　-Where do you live? 你住在哪里?

　　-I live here. 我住在這里.

　　live in … 住在…,后接表示"國家","城市"等大地方的名詞.

　　live at… 住在….后接小地方.

　　live on… 以…為食

　　live to be… 活到…

　　live 指長期居住, stay 為短期停留.
